Social Shopping
Why does online shopping have to be a task you do alone? Well it doesn't, in fact, you can take 100's of friends and like minded people with you, just perfect to ask if something matches your car, or handbag! and with 100's of people to ask, you are bound to get a more accurate reply! KangaReview is a place where you can ask questions, discuss products, read reviews by others from all over the internet.

Search Engine and Filtered Results
Our review search engine not only searches our reviews, but also reviews on other websites. This gives you all the reviews on an item in one place. There are many sites with 1000's of reviews, but you either have to read them all, or only ever read the first handful. Even those marked as the most useful are usually the older ones or were the top ones just getting more weight added. KangaReview uses a filtering system to show reviews how you want to see them. If you want to read them all or only the ones written by people from the same area as you, then filter by your post/zip code. You might only want to read reviews by people in your age range,so you can filter by age. One of the unique options of KangaReview is to filter by social groups, for example see reviews by people who are "Builders" or "Dog lovers".

Write Reviews
The core benefit of KangaReview stems from its reviews, of just about anything. Writing reviews not only shares your experiences with others, but allows the system to match your likes and dislikes with other members. This power allows us to match the best reviews for you and maybe suggest suitable alternatives, it helps provide more content to the community, which in turn encourages people to write more, which in turn provides better data for you!
Group Buying ( In development, not on live site yet )
Group buying has been around for a long time, but is hard to achieve well. We already have a group of contacts with retailers and e-tailers who we will put every group buy product request out to. This is where we are different, Group buy sites make their money from receiving commission for sales. Therefore some deals will never make it to you, because the retailer doesn't offer commission on certain sales. We actively encourage ALL sellers to bid for the best deal, and provide interfaces to the group buy so that you, the users can suggest retailers we should approach. The more people involved, the more chances of success. The other reason we have an edge over dedicated group buy sites is our 'community' feature. When you take an interest in a product, the more people that then know about it the better, we publish it all over our site, on all relevant review pages, and across our content sharing sites. But we also give you the chance to push it to your friends, facebook, blogs, email list, msn contacts etc OR not if you prefer. We allow every method, we can practically do, to up the number of people involved in the group buying so as to drive the pricing right down.
User Edited Publications ( In development, not on live site yet )
We are nearing release of a publishing system, allowing the users to write articles about anything in the catalogue. Although our own editorial team will also be writing about some subjects, allowing anyone to write their own content will give a real cross section of opinions and allows the better weekly or monthly sections to gain a gravitas in their chosen industry or market sector. These articles and news pages will be across a sector (e.g. 'DVD players') , rather than a specific product, allowing experts or users that have carried out research into a subject, the ability to pass on their knowledge and help other users with their shopping experience.

Transparent and Unbiased
There is a fine line between making enough income to run a site like this, and staying fully independent. many people make assumptions, which can make the information on a site seem less accurate. We have looked long and hard at this issue, and decided on a few key points. No one can pay to have a rating increased, removed or altered in any way. Any reviews by our own team, will be fully independent of any advertising revenue we receive from a company. We will be just as transparent to them as we will be to you the users. If a product or service is awful, I guess they won't want to advertise with us. Commercially, it makes better sense for us to pursue their competitors anyway.

Where a site is free of charge the site does need to make income, we do this by use of affiliation links, we put them in prominent positions and encourage you to make your final purchases via our links. To maintain our unbiased credentials, we will always provide links where we are unable to get affiliation deals and this will not bias in anyway reviews, or product positioning on the site.

The only time a product or service will gain promotion that is biased, is when it is being done as an advertisement, or promotion. This will be very clearly displayed either in a different format, not displayed in a list with other reviews, or clearly marked as an advertisement.

Wedding list and wish list ( In development, not on live site yet )
The reason big department stores, and people like amazon provide wedding lists, and wish lists, is when a purchase is made via your list, they make the sale. The issue is you are limited to their stock. Although some of them do offer a very large range, if you want something from elsewhere, its not in their interests to allow you to put it on the list. Our service is not only free, but you can link ANY product , from any store and when your guest finds the product, they can choose to purchase it from any store they choose and still be able to mark it off the list to avoid duplicate presents.

Recommendations
The recommendations engine is a work in progress. We had a lot of feedback about others sites 'recommended items' and we have looked into why its not been as effective as it could. Most sites use the content of a basket to find synergy between items. two examples for you would be;

I buy a toolkit for my car and a barbie doll for my niece, from that day forward I get offered barbie doll accessories, and also anyone buying the same car kit, gets offered the "barbie on Ice" doll.

The next example, I buy the iiyama best buy monitor, and a standard cable for it. I find the cable is a bad fit, its not bendy enough to get round the back of this particular monitor, it was a couple of quid, so I don't send it back. Anyone that now buys the monitor, is told the perfect match is this cable, which is clearly not the case.

We are different as we only match from reviews as opposed to purchase history, we know if it is a good match, we know if you liked the item. Chances are you didn't review the barbie doll for your niece, as you weren't the one that played with it the difference is plain to see. Last but not least we are providing three levels of confidence with every recommendation. Confident, Not Bad and Educated Guess. This Allows you to decide if it is worth reading, or taking a look at. We are aiming to give you extra information, to make your shopping experience more effective.

Syndicate content to your own web site
If you run your own web site you will know that dynamic relevant content is key to bringing traffic back to your site. We offer you just that, a set of tools that allows you to syndicate the data and reviews from our site onto yours. We even provide the technology to allow your own users to add reviews to your site, and view reviews without ever loosing your brand. Best of all, its free ,unless you need 1000's of hits, and even then depending on how you set it up, it can still be free.
Entirely free
Every feature of the site is free of charge to most users. Some will incur charges if they are used to extreme, or used for commercial reasons, but there are no features only available to "paying" or "premium" users.
